These seldom seen etchings welcome you into the world of Louis Conrad Rosenberg (1890–1983) and his peers.
Underrated and understated, Rosenberg was an American architect and printmaker. His art captures the personalities of the structures that fascinated him on his travels.
Etching had an impact out of proportion to its usually modest-sized works. The Times of London called it ‘art in one of its highest forms’ during its revival from the 1860s to the 1930s. Meticulous technical skill was essential, but Rosenberg went further, adding an unerring sense of place, space, and grace.
